Bf-109 G2 shoots down Pe-2 over Black Sea

Gil Shaw (cobrauk) - Principle Beta tester

Born in 1948 in Leicestershire, England, young Gil Shaw's parents, as he said, "moved up to Scotland when I was just a baby and I decided to go along with them."  Indeed, he is a current resident of Glasgow!  After years in school, Gil decided to drop out when 17.  A self-pronounced hippy in ponytail, his true skills were evident when he completed a postgraduate in Management Studies at a local university.

His current occupation is as a groupwork facilitator, specializing in Personal and Social Development.  His duties involve building assertiveness, communications skills, problem solving, and group dynamics.  He produces his own courses on this subject.

Gil is once married and divorced, with a son who will turn 26 on 7 July 2002.  As he says, "that really makes me feel old!"

His interests include history, photography, music, computers, and Formula 1 motor racing.  His interests in history mainly center on aviation and military history.  He fell in love with aeroplanes when he was in pre-school.  His grandfather worked at Prestwick airport, and his mother often took young Gil on visits.  "At that time, aircraft like the Super Connie and the Stratocruisers were just being phased out, and I used to watch them land, taxi, and take off."  [Editor's note:  such sites are enough to stir the heart of any aviator!]

Gil first started flight simming years ago when he owned a Commidore Amiga computer.  More recently, he was a test pilot for DCC, beta testing one of the XP38-N models for CFS2.  He ventured into his own CFS2 add-on's when he created three outstanding repaints of the FDG P-51D.  Those who own one of these repaints can testify to his marvelous skills.  His works are available at the Sim Outhouse downloads section under his nickname "cobrauk."

Gil also volunteered to be the principle beta tester of the Crimean campaign.  His diligent efforts found and corrected many errors, especially with respect to runway and airbase presentation and framerates.  His skills in this role were invaluable in creating the best campaign possible.
